Eric Wong is a musician and sound artist, studied psychology at the University of Minnesota, and audio production and engineering at the Institute of Production and Recording.
Wong is both a guitarist and electronic musician. As a guitarist, he performs as a soloist and in groups including free improvising trio BISTRE and guitar ensemble Panomorph. As an electronic musician, he focuses on utilizing smartphones and Bluetooth speakers for his compositions and performances. He composed ten pieces for multiple smartphones in 2021 and 2022, with the series titled “multiple portables”. He has also been performing with multiple pocket sized Bluetooth speakers in the past few years to create spatialized sonic experiences for the audience that the PA system cannot provide.
Wong has performed in festivals including Freespace (Hong Kong), Cynetart (Dresden), JOLT (Hong Kong), Internationales Klangkunstfest (Berlin), Blaues Rauschen (Herne), Soundance Festival (Berlin), Festival Experimentelle Musik (Munich), Sound Forms (Hong Kong), and has released music on labels Edition Wandelweiser, Creative Sources, Inexhaustible Editions, Full Body Massage Records, Sello Postal, Vintage Vinyl HK, and Party Perfect!
He is currently based in Berlin.
