Rasten/Wong Duo
The initial idea of the duo project was to have two guitarists with many common musical interests working together, while omitting the guitar and utilizing other musical tools instead.
Wong has been composing and performing electronic music with laptop and mobile speakers, and Rasten has been working with a self-built instrument based on tuning forks.
With the shared interest especially in intonation and related acoustical phenomena, the duo focus on long-form pieces that combine improvisatory and composed elements, with the sound of acoustically and electronically induced sine-waves playing a major role, and where low volumes of sounds interact with the surroundings.
Integrated in this sonic world are movements and specific placements of sound sources. The ways sine waves react to these parameters add to the psycho-acoustic aspect of the music.
